Project Reflection
The purpose of my infographic was to help people comprehend what Calories actually are. During this project I learned that the definition of a Calorie is somewhat complicated. Even if someone knows that a Calorie is the amount of energy needed to heat one gram of water by one degree celsius, it is still hard to understand how that could relate to the human body. I used my infographic to convey how much energy or movement could be produced by a small amount of Calories. The infographic also gives a reference of how many Calories are in a single piece of an assortment of foods. The infographic could be interpreted as a work out reference but its main purpose is just to explain how Calories interact with the body.
I learned a lot about the nature of science from this project. Between researching, designing, conducting, analyzing, and writing this lab, it was a very educational experience for me. For staters, designing a lab is actually an incredibly difficult task. You have to learn to take your goal into account as well as trying to find an effective way to conduct the experiment. Finding an end goal is hard enough in itself, but creating a lab is harder. There are so many parts that need to be considered when creating a lab such as supplies, amount of time, hazards, sources of inaccuracy, and much more. Another thing that I learned about the nature of science is that it is very difficult to gain a completely accurate results. There are so many factors that have to be taken into consideration, that could effect the information. Even something as sensitive as someone breathing on the scale can make the results inaccurate. The nature of science is is delicate and needs to be executed precisely in order to gain the best results.

Elevator Pitch
In Durango we have all struggled through the harsh winters, and with those winters, comes winter problems. There is shoveling, snow driving, icy sidewalks, but the biggest struggle of all is trying to text when you are wearing gloves. We have all felt the icy sting of winter air when we take off our gloves to send a simple text message. With smart clothing you will never feel that pain again! Steal wool treads allows phones to interact with your gloves so you never have to take them off to text in the cold again. But it gets even better.
I know what you are thinking… Raven how can it get better than texting when it’s cold? Smart clothes have also made designs that can help the world in the ways of safety. Clothes have been made that hold special technology that can keep people safe. There are socks with blood pressure monitors, or shirts made to help prevent stokes. Even clothing with lights has been designed to keep bikers safe while they are riding. There are so many benefits to smart clothing, whether it is just for fun or for keeping you safe. Everyone will be able to use the technology in these clothes. Smart clothing is a smart investment.

Smart Clothing
For this project we were able to research a topic on new technology. I chose the topic of smart clothing and how it is affecting our society. Materials are very important for everyones lifestyle. The chemistry behind what something is made of, has influenced the world in many ways. Not only can material chemistry effect the function of different objects, but also politics. If certain chemicals or materials are valued for making an object, then the person or country who has access to those materials, hold all the power. Holding the power of certain materials and withholding them can start conflicts such as wars. The chemistry of materials has shaped our history, and will no doubt shape our future.
A materials properties can be shaped by any things. For polymers, the microscopic structure determines the physical and chemical properties of it. Properties can be something like melting point, density, color, adhesiveness, strength, and many other descriptions. Each part of the clothing is made to maximize the efficiency of the use. From the fabric it the mechanics of the clothes, smart clothes are macro and microscopically great.
